Annex 3: Phase 4 - nursing band 5 job evaluation data collection
Volume of Nursing Band 5 B5N job evaluation (JE) activity
This section of the return collects information on the volume of job evaluation activity relating to Band 5 nursing roles. The data requested includes the total number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions in use, the number reviewed and evaluated through the NHS Job Evaluation Scheme within the last three months, and the number of Band 5 nurses affected. Data is also collected by nursing service area, aligned to ESR workforce categorisations, to support understanding of activity across different parts of the workforce.

Instructions:
- total number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions in use: Provide the total number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions in use, prior to job evaluation (please note, this will remain consistent across quarters, unless new roles are created or revisions required)
- number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions that have been reviewed and evaluated through the Job Evaluation Scheme, in the past 3 months: Provide the number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions have been reviewed and evaluated through the Job Evaluation Scheme within the last 3 months
- number of Band 5 nurses whose JDs have been reviewed and evaluated through the Job Evaluation Scheme, in the past 3 months: Provide the number of Band 5 Nurses are impacted by job evaluation undertaken in the past 3 months, by WTE and headcount, broken down by area of work: by headcount; by whole time equivalent (WTE)
- area of work: specialty in which the work activity takes place, as aligned to ESR workforce categorisation and occupation code
- all job description and headcount values must be whole numbers (greater or equal to 0)
- all WTE values must be decimal numbers (greater than or equal to 0)
- values for revised and evaluated job descriptions must not exceed the total number of job descriptions currently in use
- values for number of Band 5 nurses headcount must be equal to or greater than the equivalent WTE
Outcomes of Nursing Band 5 job evaluation activity
This section of the return collects information on the outcomes of job evaluation activity relating to Band 5 nursing roles. The data requested includes the number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions revised to Band 6, the number of Band 5 nurses uplifted to Band 6, and the number of job evaluation outcome disputes raised and resolved within the last three months. Data is also collected by nursing service area, aligned to ESR workforce categorisations, to support understanding of implementation and outcome activity across different parts of the workforce.

Instructions:
- number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions revised to Band 6 in the past 3 months: Provide the number of Band 5 nursing job descriptions that have been revised to Band 6, in the past 3 months
- number of Band 5 nurses who have been uplifted to Band 6 in the past 3 months: As a result of reviews and job evaluations undertaken in the past 3 months, indicate how many Band 5 Nurses have been uplifted to Band 6, by WTE and headcount, broken down by area of work
- number of band 5 nursing job evaluation outcomes disputed by means of review request, in the past 3 months: Provide the number of Band 5 Nursing panel outcomes that have been formally disputed through submission of a review request. The number provided should reflect review requests received in the relevant reporting period (past 3 months), regardless of when the disputed panel outcome was confirmed
- number of resolutions to band 5 nursing job evaluation outcomes disputed by means of review request in the past 3 months: Provide the number of resolutions to Band 5 Nursing panel outcomes that have been formally disputed through submission of a review request. The number provided should reflect resolutions in the relevant reporting period (past 3 months), regardless of when dispute was raised
- area of work: specialty in which the work activity takes place, as aligned to ESR workforce categorisation and occupation code
- all job description and headcount values must be whole numbers (greater than or equal to 0)
- all WTE values must be decimal numbers (greater than or equal to 0)
- values for uplifted job descriptions must not exceed the total number of job descriptions revised and evaluated
- values for uplifted Band 5 nurses must not exceed the total number of Band 5 nurses impacted by job evaluations, per headcount or WTE
- values for number of uplifted Band 5 Nurses Headcount must be equal to or greater than the equivalent WTE
