Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Data Collection

The data collected is regarding Integrated care boards (ICBs), NHS trusts and other providers delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism to get a clear picture of how the training is being implemented and its impact.

This information will enable NHS England to measure the program's effectiveness and track progress toward its goals. Enabling reporting on value for money standard compliance/non-compliance, inform future commissioning intentions, the continuation of mandatory training and improve patient experience and outcomes.      

Data will be collected on a monthly basis for the previous months’ activity. Each month the data collection is open from the 1st of the month, closing on the 14th.

The data being collected by NHS England for this purpose is not personal data and therefore a legal basis under UKGDPR or Common Law is not required. This processing does however enable NHS England to meet its statutory duties and supports the monitoring of Trusts in meeting their responsibilities under the Health and Social Care Act 2022 Health and Social Care Act 2022 as set out below:

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is in response to the Health and Care Act 2022, a number of Government policies, and adopted recommendations specified in government reports and Section 28 Coroners Reports to Prevent Future Deaths, Section 118 of the Health and Care Act 2022 places a responsibility on regulated providers to provide their staff with Learning Disability and Autism Training appropriate to role.

The Oliver McGowan Code of Practice gives statutory guidance on how that requirement should be met. The Code of Practice outlines the content, delivery, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism which is the government's preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.
