National Wheelchair Data Collection
The National Wheelchair Data Collection (Standardisation Committee for Care Information reference SCCI2097 Amd 38/2015) is part of the programme of work focused on improving wheelchair services and was first introduced in July 2015.
Background to the collection
The national wheelchair data collection is part of the programme of work focussed on improving wheelchair services and was first introduced in July 2015. This data collection was introduced to establish a better understanding of the current situation with regard to NHS wheelchair services in England and support commissioners and providers to improve services.
Wheelchairs provide a significant gateway to independence, well-being and quality of life for thousands of adults and children and the collection will enable benchmarking and the use of transparent data to drive improvements. There is virtually no area of service delivery in healthcare which has been improved without the provision of better data.
Data submission information
Data is submitted via the Strategic Data Collection Service (SDCS) submission platform.
Data is collected on a quarterly basis. The exact submission dates are published on the NHS England Collections timetable webpage. In addition, registered data providers can view the relevant submission dates within SDCS.
